The best part about shooting film is forgetting everything I’ve captured - until the moment it’s developed. Feels like a little time capsule. Got some great shots this morning.

My dad used to have a Cannon like that in the late 80's/early 90's wasn't the exact same model but very very similar.

The ae-1 is a stellar and simple and cheap body. Limited to 1000th shutter speed but that’s okay. I shoot low iso

I beg your pardon🙏🏻. I've just spent 10 minutes tracking it down, it wasn't even a Cannon🙄😂. It was an Olympus OM10. They do look kind of similar though!

Those are cool too! Never had one though

I'm not really a camera person but I think it's a good camera, it cost a lot of money way back in the day, my dad took loads of pictures with it, produces good results👌🏻.

Less about the body and more about the glass!

Apparently so! That was the stock lens that was on it but I think it was pretty decent.

Nice camera! Was shooting on one of these back in 1990. Went through many models around that time including a Canon T90. Really should get back into it…

You should!

Yep, I intend to. Was very passionate about photography for 30 years or so, both film and then digital. Looking back, the number of cameras and lenses I went through is kinda ridiculous. It would be nice to go back to the beginning with a simple setup. I also need to sit down one day and digitise all the negatives and positives/slides that currently sit in storage. 😅

Yeah, I’ve gone through a number of cameras and lenses. My set up now is pretty simple. My main camera is like a M262 but I’m shooting now with this AE 1 because my friend sent some film to me for an old cars project that I’m doing. I used to have a Nikon ED 8000 film scanner, but I got rid of that a while ago.

Nice setup! Yeah, film scanners are few and far between these days. Need to have look at what’s available and capable for that task. Enjoy the old cars project! 🙂

Thank you!! This one is a favorite

What is the film development market like these days? Are there still local places where you can drop it off?

Local? Depending on where you live like New York City yeah for sure I’ve done it but there’s places online where you can send them to.

It's actually making a resurgence..

Yeah, it’s been for a few years now same with vinyl records.

AE-1 is a tank, mines literally as old as I am, been dropped, rained on, beaten up in every possible way and still functions perfectly.

Yeah, it really is wait until you feel a canon F1. that’s the other that I have

Omg. That would be so fun. I remember those days when I took photos with my parents' camera. I had some messed up shots but it was all part of the fun. Lots of laughs. 8 year Olds take the best photos. 😂

Sometimes those mistakes are happy mistakes!

This is how I feel when I get comments and zaps on nostr 😂 I forget all about whatever I said until someone responds

🤣

I remember this camera from the mid 70s when I first got into photography. I aways wanted it but couldn't afford it so I bought my first SLR, the Pentax K1000 for $100. My, how inflation has soared!

Wish I still had that camera!
