so….is lightning dead?
or is that lightning but better?
No, Lightning isn’t dead, but it’s moving to become what it always should be, the interoperability standard between different bitcoin layers. Running lightning channels isn’t suitable for everyday users. They need a noncustodial option that just works, and there’s a race to find the right way to do it. It’s great to see all this competition, it will be healthy for bitcoin in the long run.
While I don't want to compare Ark and Cashu directly, they both have a dependency on some service provider or mint, and so I think it would be cool for Cashu mints to also be Ark Service Providers, and also for wallets to support multiple protocols. Cashu and Ark are great for onboarding people who are totally new to Bitcoin
If it’s technically feasible, someone should build it. Looking at you, nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg… 👀
So ark runs on lightning as a sort of l3?
I wonder how they generate the Ark private key(s). Ark doesn't have a standard derivation path yet
Good question! Maybe nostr:npub16fhh3ev4gytmt3jn3gkkez9z99kxtspcwupen4cxn2tcym4sd22surn62p can explain?
I meant LayerZ, I know how Arkade does it. It generates a single private key for now, not a mnemonic
Awesome!
This looks interesting! Can you send sats from a lighting wallet to a wallet using the Ark protocol?
Yes, but the minimum amount to receive on Ark via Lightning is 333 sats for some reason I don’t understand.
