Spent this morning putting together a 4X8X2' raised garden. The thing had 138 bolts to hold it together. I bought 2 others, but they will have to effing wait untill next week, it took Kate and me a couple of hours to get one together. And no matter how much math you put into it, you never have enough soil because of settling, etc. Well, at least it is too high for the dog to get into it to dig.

I've looked at those a few times. I've considered using them as a cold frame by only filling 1/2-2/3 full and building a simple top over it. It would save some fill that way. Modified hugelculture seems useful to that end as well.

it would proabaly work well. We were thinking of even using one as a dog pen for our little dachshund. on rhis one, I filled it half way with junk wood and dead pepper plants from lsst years season. then topped it off with soil. Still have to get more soil. 8x4x2 can really add up in volume

They don't look like they fill up quick. One of my coworkers sometimes talks about having a little garden and wanting to grow mushrooms. I've told him if he got one of these I'd help him set it up and inoculate some fresh logs to bury in the system.

You beat me to it! Cheers!

Fill the lower half with logs, twigs and stuff. The rotting it great for plants. Called a Hügelkultur. You’ll be better in the long run then just soil.

This is the perfect case for power tools. 😎

Good job. That looks like a rather decent kit.

Followed fellow gardener.

good job

we have two of them, still in their boxes , waiting for your expertise 😎

How much did the soil cost?

was like $10 per 2 cubic feet at lowes. expensive!

This makes me glad I am really increasing compost production
