When I was asking around, Phoenix seemed to be the wallet of choice next to Wallet of Satoshi.

Phoenix has to receive a larger initial chunk to ‘start a channel’.

If they have access to WoS it is easier, but not self custody..

Check this Walker podcast, this guy is building something super interesting for African bitcoin users, maybe can help.. 🤙

Try Coin.Space we have made it super small and can also work in a browser on a phone, noncustodial wallet.

I think an ecash wallet such as minibits is a good first wallet. Then Mutiny. If you are encouraging people to DCA with small amounts and rarely spend, its pretty difficult to reccomend a lightning wallet where they will have to open a channel for each DCA.

I assume you want them to use Lightning? Definitely Phoenix is the most reliable and it’s non-custodial, so it’s the way to go. but: you first need to open a channel and that makes only sense with an amount of ~100 USD. They can start using custodial Wallet of Satoshi, comes at no cost, but risk bc custodial OR if they don’t have internet: use Machankura8333 a Lightning wallet that can be used on any feature phone.

What is your opinion on cashu, maybe via eNuts? Because it's a bearer token, and no fees, it seems like it could be a good fit, although if you're using it offline you have a chance of getting rugged.

My friend says KYC is the main bottleneck, since a lot of people don't have physical addresses. Do you have any suggestions for buying bitcoin using kwacha via https://www.mtn.zm/momo? Apart from having him bootstrap the local circular economy single handed of course 😂

I recommend going to our Lusaka meetup and hook up with the Bitcoiners there. No one is using Cashu at this time. It’s too new. Most ppl have never heard of Lightning.

challenge in Zim n SA is have trust custodial LN provider for small folks hodling few sats with trust cashu or btcpayserver at the end need a LND which hard for small vendors/users

We have a BFF Bitcoin meetup in Lusaka, Zambia. Is your friend there?
