Was checking out your nostr plebs site so essentially it allows you to create a Twitter/X like @ username for Nostr instead of sending someone a long public key to follow you? Am I comprehending this right?

Yes, that's correct. Anyone can setup a Nostr address. You can do it yourself or you can use a service provider.
