How does inscribing public keys on the blockchain help? Is it just basically pgp with a decentralized nameserver?

That's the neat part, it doesn't.

Are you referring to the MicroStrategy thing? If so I would like to understand why as well. Seems like something like Nostr would do the trick.

nostr could to an extent with badge assignments for ids but fails on permissionless distribution along with update and delete

Maybe Nostr devs can watch how MicroStrategy develops its protocol and make something similar?

its really just publishing certified identities considered verified by that issuer in a decentralized permissionless censorship resistant way with intended permanence. others adopting that protocol and dependent on the operations is trusting the issuer.

To me, Shitcoin on Bitcoin feels..

Nostr created webs of trust, seems like a better fit to me.. BUTTTT I'm not a coder or cryptographer.. So my 2 SATs don't mean much..

It helps breaks fungibility.

It's not like PGP at all. It's more like a jpeg of your driver's licence attached to every UTXO you own. (Although it will probably just be text not pics)

"They" do not want us to have privacy.

I suspect the suits will lobby congress to outlaw bitcoin transactions that do not have the DID inscriptions attached.

You'll still be allowed to buy bitcoin derivatives(ETF's) but making on-chain bitcoin transactions without the DID attached will be a crime.

It helps Saylor market his bad idea.
