In a large mate, the mate tastes better than in a small one 😁

Just kidding, it's because the small one holds less water. It doesn't affect the taste of the drink negatively, it's just that the yerba "brews" faster. Actually, a small wooden mate is the best purchase. I would like to buy a few more wooden ones, as long as they don't have any treatment on the inner surface.

Actually, I managed to find a mate made of calden by sheer luck. The others here are somehow made of oak or cedar, and they are heavily varnished inside.

So what's the point of those. Do they make you high at least?

I always see "south America aligned" (people who have visited or simply have sympathy) people running around with those.

No, it's just an ordinary herbal drink, another one among many. Nothing special.

Personally, I like it more than, for example, matcha. But in terms of taste, it falls short compared to Chinese teas or specialty coffee.

You have to make the habit to get it. It's quite a special ritual.

why yould you need to get high for a drink to be worth it? it's bitter, gives you energy and it's the best companion for any activity you're doing at that moment, cause it lasts longer than a tea or a coffee.

Calden is very tasty in the good sense. Makes richer brew. Definitely my favourite

This wood is also very durable, dries quickly, and is inexpensive 🙂 It's a shame that it's not available in Russia 🤣

What's with Russians and tea? We talk East vs West, Catholic vs Orthodox, &c. but is the true divide coffee vs tea?

Yes, Russia is a tea-drinking country. The most you can expect when visiting someone is instant coffee, but in the HoReCa sector, milk-based coffee drinks (like cappuccino, for example) definitely dominate.
