Regarding Bitcoin adoption …

I feel one big struggle of people who are new to btc is the hassle of sending and storing btc and the responsibility that comes with it.

I don’t see that people will learn to take this responsibility as the majority of humans always seeks the way of least resistance. Which is fiat at the moment.

That’s why i am trying to think of ways to make it easier/safer to send and recieve btc.

Lightning adresses are a great step towards this but similarly to making typos when sending mails, ppl will make typos here.

So the question is is there a way to reduce risk of loosing btc when sending for everyday ordinary people?

Currently i am thinking about something like a password confirmation. You want to send from abc to adress xyz. Network asks xyz if it want to recieve with asking for a one time password (you have to tell the recipient). Xyz confirms with password. Network send from abc to xyz. Similarly to like bluetooth connections work.

That would only work onchain. Not lightning, as lightning needs to be fast. But lightning also is usually used for smaller amounts while wealth is stored onchain and that’s where the risk of loosing a lot exists.

This are just some rough thoughts. What do you think about this? Would this help? Would it be too complicated? Have other ideas?

Tell me please!

I’ll be honest. I think that if someone doesn’t want to bear the responsibility of full custody, they’re not ready for Bitcoin.

It’s a feature that it’s not the most convenient thing in the world.

The fact that you CAN hold this monetary asset yourself completely securely and it’s unhackable should make you want to self custody, even if it has some hoops.

But wouldn’t reduce those hoops help a lot?

Like phones were used before the iPhone but making usability simpler helped the adoption greatly.

#[1] what do you think?

Fortunate people generally put a lot of thought and investment into protecting any wealth they may have.

Ensuring and Improving financial survival through making better financial choices is of course central to everyone's priorities everywhere.

The benefits of Bitcoin outweigh the effort to transact in it considerably.

When swathes of the population eventually realise this I think it'll happen regardless of the learning curve. It's just better.

I'm with you, stack, discuss, build.
