The board of directors will not listen to any suggestions. The essence of the problem is that most of the Opensats board of directors and funds are part-time. They think they are doing public welfare work and don't owe anyone. The duties of Opensats are only a small part of their daily work. For Nostr developers who are in urgent need of development funds, the projects they develop are their everything. Opensats is the only source of funding for most Nostr developers.

They don't care about the long and inefficient project review time and the unfairness of the rules. They only need to donate a few well-known Nostr clients to shut everyone up. As long as Opensats can operate for a long time, it is a good and bright resume for them. They don't care whether Jack's funds can be used efficiently or whether Nostr can develop quickly. Nostr developers develop quickly after getting the funds quickly. This is also one of the reasons why Nostr develops slowly.

Many developers come because of nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m 's call, because Jack has long-term funding for developers and is willing to continue to invest time and money in Nostr. But they will leave because of disappointment. nostr:note1cgyukak2c0lpzyvsdveq8fpvypf7gxtac9u7nl3kn59quymgmfhqmny3xy

Not sure what all this means. But I am SO GRATEFUL when I see posts like this because I know you all are doing the hard work in the background. I’m just a simple user. But I love this community and Cypherpunk ethos so much. Please continue to work towards solutions and make this space possible. 🙏many thanks.

There are trade offs everywhere.

They made the trade off to not use developer donated funds to operate the charity. Therefore they have few resources to handle the numerous requests for funding. These people are donating their limited time to help fund the projects they deem as high value. I also got rejected, and with a basic email response, but they owe me nothing, and if they didn’t exist no one would receive funding.

As time goes on maybe they will choose a different set of trade offs but for now they are one of a very limit set of organization highlighting and funding bitcoin and nostr.

openeats board are volunteers.

being a developer does not grant you access to funds.

props will go to the people that bootstrap something on nostr that makes money.

that would be your best revenge.

and then you can fund whomever you like.

It sounds like there is a specific grievance here. For someone with no dog in this fight, it’s hard for me to take away much from your post except that you are unhappy. Perhaps if you were less vague and general in your criticism your post might be more productive towards improving the situation.

Calm down

It doesn't matter, I just expressed what I encountered and saw. Maybe only Nostr developers who have had the same experience as me can understand. They refused Freerse's funding, but they have never used Freerse. I hope they can improve and allow more developers to be fair and transparent. I hope Nostr can get better and better. I love Nostr.🫂💜🫡

Will have to scope Freerse.

I don't quite understand what you mean. I have stopped developing nostr:npub1tqjvq0ff6detxfmuczmvkvk52sgs9fa0ppjmmgu0hnk7cn29fmaq9mz588 . I am only maintaining Freerse at a low cost. I don't know how long I can maintain it. I sold my Bitcoins two years ago and spent a year and a half building Freerse. The development funds ran out a few months ago.

This complaint would land so differently without all the assumptions about motives and character ("contempt," "arrogance," "don't care").

It's not just about diplomacy; it's about clarity (what exactly is needed and why, which is lost when you open with so much personal vitriol) as well as perspective (board members are not paid, so none of us has a claim to their attention).

HOWEVER, we all want Nostr development to succeed!! I think you'll get a lot of traction among the plebs and probably Nostr in general if we understand what we can advocate for and if you stop attacking folks who are donating their time to help grow the tech.

I am just describing what I experienced and saw. I hope you won't experience such a bad situation. I also hope that future developers can be treated fairly and justly.
