What Pokey does is to locally broadcast events received from your inbox relays to other apps installed in your phone. That saves them to be running in background while connected to relays (wich wastes a lot of battery). The idea was to be battery/connection efficient so only Pokey keeps connected to relays while others just listen to Pokey.
You can test it with Citrine, which has this feature enabled by default in Settings
Very cool, I haven't tried citrine yet, I'm using a jumble PWA and amethyst mostly, but I'll give it a go!
