This EU law banning unlocking story was untrue. The publication posting it retracted it in a subsequent story without updating the original.

The claims they cited were AI generated which they admit in the follow up story.

Since I posted the link, I would clarify that I originally read this Italian article:

https://www.tomshw.it/smartphone/leuropa-ha-ucciso-il-software-libero-per-gli-smartphone

that seems more informed and detailed (and not an AI slop at all), but shared the xiaomitime.com one because it's in english.

I suspect that the original news is from this Italian magazine, and xiaomitime.com AI copied/translated it, changing the date to a week earlier to gain a SEO advantage.

Read the article from Tomshw and let me know if you think the problem still doesn't exist, please. These are the two cited laws:
