Definitely worth the money to buy your own router.
Ads have gotten way too intrusive over the years. It's too much. If you run a Bitcoin node or a Nostr relay, you can run your own ad blocking service too.
Instead of running a web browser plugin on all your devices, you can block all ads at the network level by running Pi-Hole. It was designed to run on a Raspberry Pi, but you can run it really on anything. It's pretty simple to setup and install. Then, you just need to make one change on your router. Boom! No more ads on any device in your house.

I've seen some Netgear models that don't allow you do that do. It didn't support DDRT either. I returned that so fast.
