The question for me is… how many people here are actually skilled enough to survive a state attack on bitcoin? The xrp community survived because everyone operating the network were already obfuscated cypherpunks and technological savants… to go dark was merely a flip of a switch but Bitcoin would be a much more difficult switch to flip as the nature of private DEXs make it easier to deleverage in the case of a state attack

What could potentially happen is that (such as was the case with xrp) only users in the United States get cut off from Bitcoin and all US based exchanges would delist Bitcoin

That would be really really really fucked up in the case of bitcoin

Not an ideal scenario at all for anyone whose not prepared to immediately go dark

If you think the current administration isn’t full of rabbits that’s a naive view point to hold

Agree that there are many methods and the Bitcoin dark pool network is insanely robust however port scanning would make every operator vulnerable to swatting (this also happened to privacy devs 2020-2022)

To go actually dark is definitely possible in the case of Bitcoin but the proprietary system that exists for Bitcoin today would mean a significant halt in network success for operators

Evading the government is a pretty difficult task, being invisible is almost impossible in my opinion... however, we can always try to go unnoticed... there are several methods to improve privacy with Bitcoin, although I understand that it isn't private by default, this is the last thing I saw regarding privacy in Bitcoin

Very much agree and think silent payments are 😎

The simulation is breaking 👀

Also agree, I think sometimes people think I say the things I say because I dislike or hate Bitcoin

But really I think I love Bitcoin more than almost anyone I know including most everyone I have met here on nostr

The way people take criticism says a lot about them, fuck it all and just have a good time here without heroes

🫂 never meet your hero’s

When you say "users in the United States get cut off from Bitcoin", how would that work? It is technological feasible for the gov't to block access to or shutdown all ~24,000 nodes?

No not at all but it is feasible for them to target high profile developers and network operators (as they did xrp from 2020-2023) which would have significant impact on the Bitcoin network in a different way as the two networks operate much differently from a hardware perspective

Not to mention it would make every proprietary Bitcoin business shut down overnight and wallet centralization/ pooling pressures would become a SIGNIFICANT threat to the network as each wallet operates as a single vertice on the network when we consider networks decentralization

Your node doesn’t matter but Coinbase node does

USA can firewall btc but btc can't firewall p2p users.

I’m not sure what you mean by this

I think I follow but also not sure that I do

Where there´s a will there´s a way

But there´s no will and the path led astray...

XRP shareholders put up a good fight against the legal attack, and the Tom Brady move benefited them.

Xrp does not have shareholders

The biggest gaslight the bitcoiners ever gave anyone was that the xrpl was an ICO

It's certainly a messy history.

I really don't care if the SEC wins or not. For me, it's a good demonstration of whether one organization or movement can DDoS a government agency.

The SEC already lost, the first part of the suit (against users) years ago and the second part of the the suit specifically against Chris Larsen and Brad Garlinghouse recently
