When you say "users in the United States get cut off from Bitcoin", how would that work? It is technological feasible for the gov't to block access to or shutdown all ~24,000 nodes?

No not at all but it is feasible for them to target high profile developers and network operators (as they did xrp from 2020-2023) which would have significant impact on the Bitcoin network in a different way as the two networks operate much differently from a hardware perspective

Not to mention it would make every proprietary Bitcoin business shut down overnight and wallet centralization/ pooling pressures would become a SIGNIFICANT threat to the network as each wallet operates as a single vertice on the network when we consider networks decentralization
