The UK election system is bonkers. Labour has a landslide victory even though they’re getting less votes in 2024’s major victory as they got in 2019 in their worst defeat. How do you justify such a broken system as a functional democracy?

First past the post single member constituencies is a terrible electoral system. There are so many better forms of voting.

It's a system which has lasted a long time.

On what basis are you saying it is terrible, everyone in the uk understands the system.

There is no perfect system, what suits one country might not suit another.

Except that NZ which is very much modeled on the UK switched to MMP and it works much better.

Thank you, I will read and consider. However I still believe it's very difficult to compare two different systems over the long term. Also the conditions prior to NZ's change will not necessarily be the same in the UK.
