Brothers, when you return home to find your wife worn down by the day’s labors (children tested her patience, disorder crept in despite her efforts, plans unraveled), she may look to you as if you could fix what feels broken.

Resist the temptation to become her functional messiah.

Your calling isn’t to rescue her from every hard providence or absorb her frustrations as though you could bear what only Another can carry. Point her upward. The comfort she needs, the strength for tomorrow, the peace in chaos…these flow from the throne, not from you.

Love her by reminding her where true help comes from. Pray with her. Open Scripture together. Lead her to the well you both drink from.

You can’t be her savior because that position is already filled. Be the husband who faithfully directs her gaze to Him.
