I just wonder how long people think this bubble will last. Of how nice people are here, etc.

It’s a network.

Find your tribe.

The more people that join the more selective you need to be.

Oh, I agree whole heartedly.

I think we’re past that point for now tbh. Nostr had a chance to grab a bunch of different ppl that weren’t bitcoin obsessed, but the obsession here is so thorough that it drove ppl away.

Some ppl here think that’s a good thing, but a toxic positivity circlejerk is never going to see mass adoption.

It’ll be fine.

Will take some time, but BTC is a strong foundation from which to grow.

Good things take time.

It’s not just a question of time. Most ppl, like 99.999% don’t care about free speech or how nostr works compared to twitter or whatever else.

They care about interesting content and engagement.

They don’t care until they have to. It’s definitely a waiting game. Seems we may just be early.

We’re early.

I think the point most people miss is with freedom comes responsibility. Free speech is no different, and with our information revolution in full swing people haven’t quite made it to the point that because we can talk about whatever the hell we want to in full view of the public does not mean we should.

For the moment most of social media boils down to controversy for controversy’s sake. Sure we could talk about black people shipping off to Africa, but why would we? What purpose does that serve, but to piss people off? Idk if that’s a dig at your comment. It’s just a meaningless observation of mine. Something I’ve noticed over the passed decade, or so.

Well worded.

With freedom comes responsibility.

Topics shouldn’t be off the table but there’s a level of couth and kindness that needs to be included.

Otherwise it’s just anger inflaming anger, and that helps no one.

Good points. I’ll think on this. Also, will thin about me saying F you and is it or is not helpful.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I followed you even though you’re being a cry baby.

Thank you for the follow šŸ«‚šŸ¤œšŸ˜‚

I personally don’t care how ā€œoffensiveā€ ppl are (short of pedophiles who should be killed, like others that target the vulnerable).

What ppl take offence at is relative, outright open racism was normal not too long ago.

It’s not normal nor acceptable now.

I pop in once in a while to check on progress here, but tbh Idc about bitcoin. I don’t have anything against it, but it’s just not my thing. It’s saturation here is why I’ve moved to other clients. I do love the decentralized part, but I gravitate to clients that have a diversity of content. I’m just to adhd to enjoy the same things over, and over again

Where do you gravitate?

It feels like I’m on all of them at this point. I really just monitoring the progress of a bunch of clients to see which ones are progressing in a good direction.

A short list would be

https://satellite.earth/

They’re ui kinda sucks, but they do have user created communities

https://zapddit.com/communities/discover

Very similar to satellite, but very buggy atm

https://snort.social

It similar to Damus, but for whatever reason I see more diverse content there

https://coracle.social/apps

Is doing some cool things with apps.

https://iris.to/

Seems to be the place for memes lol

https://www.austrich.net/nostr

I’m just digging through sites like this one, and trying everything I can.

It’s difficult to judge any client to harshly. Nostr is still really new, and has a long way to go. It’s just id like to see decentralization take root in a much large way than bitcoin can do alone. So I offer my constructive criticism.

People are making hashtags like #grownostr to get more ppl interested tbf. The content is there if you don’t mind digging through stupid zap posts.

It does take effort. I agree for the 99% it needs to take less effort.

I’m still optimistic. But I see and agree with your point in general. But it’s better than it was three months ago, so still optimistic.

Finding people is difficult.

Finding threads is difficult.

Finding follows is difficult

Finding # tags is difficult.

But, that’s because we’re early. Overall we’ll grow, and expand, and mature.

Careful, that bot hasnt figured out a lightning wallet yet. I found a ton of people building my community here. If you are here we share some common bond, could care less if using only nostr. These are my people. Are they yours?

Lol I haven’t figured out lighting wallet either. It’s not my thing. I’m the physical assets guy. Bitcoin is cool, and all. You guys like it a lot more than I do is all.

The common bond is an interest in the progress of Nostr. Beyond that I don’t believe Damus to be my community. It’s a good community for what it is though.

Grow Nostr is dumb hashtag. It’s too generic…

There’s also #foodstr #carstr (p.s. I hate the ā€œstrā€ thing, just use hashtags normally).

The hashtags are helpful no doubt

The mute user function is quite nice. Doesn’t work very well on Iris so I switch between Damus and Iris depending on whether I want to zap or not.

The mute feature on Damus is very nice though for removing low effort nonsense like single word ā€œ#Bitcoinā€ posts, shitty AI memes or ā€œartworkā€, or zap requests/begging.

Takes a few days but it really cleans up the feed nicely.
