I never realized how dirty these little bastards are. The automatic waterer is constantly being filed with dirt and poop. Crawling under was a pain so I made a little door. Going to use the future door for a run also! #chickenstr #homesteading #permies #iowa5a

Could you use poultry nipples instead of the cups to reduce the dirty water too.
I have them in the bottom of a 5gal bucket, but I like the pipe idea!
Does the rain barrel water ever get nasty / unsafe for them to drink? Just thinking about a large container of standing water in the sun. We use a paint bucket with the nipple style valves
With it being dark colored I haven’t had any problems yet. I have a couple old soda barrels that I painted brown that I use to water plants and haven’t had any problems yet
Messy indeed. I have the red cuppies near my aviary door so I can easily hose them out every day. Definitely need that access. Cool build!
