Whoever still turns their phone off or puts it on airplane mode when flying, don't trust them. They're the ones who do what they're told without question.

I remember when I was 18, flying from GVA to LDN I was sending SMS whilst the plane was taxiing for takeoff, I was threatened by a woman sitting next to me that I might put everyone's life in danger if I don't turn off my phone.

Do I sound to you like someone who listens to randos on a plane? These people are still living under rules from outdated data dating back to the 1960s.

*Ok, ok, If you do it to conserve battery, you are forgiven.

My daughters Father-in-law is an airline pilot. He flew spy planes for the air force. He said commercial airplanes have systems and redundancies that are very robust. A little handheld device is not going to disrupt the instrumentation. Putting phone in airplane mode or turning it off is a plecebo and more about passenger compliance.

Same applies to the stupid hospital rules.
