Trying to quit myself as well. The headache and fatigue is almost unbearable crazy to see what effect it has when you try to stop.

I saw a fox running close to my car this summer early one morning and I realized this beautiful animal as soon as it wakes it’s ready 100%. No grogginess, no a few more minutes, no dose of a drug (caffeine) to help it get going. No reason we humans can’t go back to that feeling.

Very similar to how I’m thinking and feeling after one week without. I think getting back to that state is possible.

The headaches are real, and they subsided after the fourth day for me. I was mostly a once a day drinker, with the occasional espresso in the afternoon.

Since stopping I’ve noticed I’m less prone to dehydration, and feeling more clear headed.

Might try a cup tomorrow to experience feeling after this break, and make the final decision if it’s something to eliminate entirely.

My goals aren’t complete elimination but casual enjoyment every once in a while eg if I go to brunch with a friend or something. Control it versus it control me.

Are you doing a tea alternative or strictly no caffeine?

Seems like that is the more reasonable approach, but possibly not suited for all. May be a daily or none at all type of thing for me, leaning towards the latter right now. I did miss being caffeinated during workouts a bit, but not all that bad without really.

I’ve read some writings suggesting moderate caffeine intake does help protect against cognitive decline with age, along with some other benefits. Not sure how sound that is though, and who’s potentially funding those articles.

For a little more than a week now I haven’t had anything with caffeine in it at all, not black tea, energy drinks, foods, etc.

I think I will keep going now that I’ve got some skin in the game by clearing the headache period, at least until an apt moment of indulgence arises.
