He’s paying the big content creators like a bribe to keep using twitter and to continue kissing elons ass.

You don’t think it’s based on impressions?

Not sure, but wouldn’t big content creators have more impressions ?

This is my point

Elon needed this: hold the users

Seem to be just in time right?

Hold the creators so the users keep hanging around

It’s a smart move

There will be masses racing for followers, doing everything to attract them. Bird app will be flooded with bullshit content.

I could see that happening short term for sure. But I wonder if it wouldn’t take long for people to weed out bullshit content creators for natural course correction 🤔

It will be content shithole with “how to make 5 figures a month”, “twitter growth secrets”, “twitter passive income ideas”, “earn fiat with this 5 min trick”….

😂 true 😂

Shit like that was always on twitter, it’ll just become worse now.

We will see a short lived burst of cheap AI generated content, prank videos, gaming streams, ethots, all the degenerate junk food for the mind. Revenue for creators goes way down, quality goes down further. Users turn into consumers and occasionally comment on content. An accident happening in slow motion.

Seems likely. But isn’t the zap model a bit similar? We already have people copying content from other platforms without any credit and getting zapped for it.

Have to be careful which notes you buy on Nostr to not support the sneaky zapasites.

Nevents not linking in Damus :(

Thanks

The advertisers, those who actually pay the content creators on the bird app, have zero incentive to amplify this message. In a way, they dictate (or rather heavily influence) what is being said (or not) on the bird app. It's precisely this hierarchical fiat model that nostr is disrupting.

Great points 👍

Was already thinking about this a long time ago, and have already started writing about it to post on habla for nostr (among other business solutions).

We have zapvertising though

Sure, that's just one method.

Now not only Twitter wants to keep you on Twitter but also the influencooors so they can make money out of you by ad revenue. It's not about you being there for providing value, but for consuming their content. Interesting, influencors have an interest in protecting the Twitter system now. We should keep this in mind.

Seems like a win for everyone though?

Twitter plugs some user leakage

Creators make hopefully better content

Users get better content

Everyone is still seeing the same ads regardless.

Yes there will be more junk but feels like it would balance itself over time.

He's on the far-right side of the bell curve. 😅

I'm pretty sure that for most users (99.99%), it'd be much easier to monetise their content on nostr than on the bird app.

I suspect you are correct ✅

Good for him, he spends a lot of time and energy creating content over there… just think how much more he could make if he was using nostr and recieving SATs that don’t depreciate over time

Everyone in the fiat world has a price, and it’s lower then you think.
