US inflation in May 2023 was 4,0%

US inflation in May 2024 was 3,3%

That's 7,17% lost of purchasing power in 2 years, based on MANIPULATED data and this is being celebrated? That's terrible πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Agree. Plus, these are manipulated trickle down price increases of goods and services resulting from inflating the money supply earlier. Plus, what is often ignored is, it also eats up productivity increases resulting from innovation. Which is commonly assumed to be 6% per year … which should result in trickle down price decreases of the same amount.

So true, I'm not even talking how everything should become cheaper thanks to technological progress but it's even more expensive which is crazy

Actually 7.4%, it’s multiplied not added.

Is it? Because when you calculate it year by year and then do the comparison between the start and the end it gives me 7,168%

Let's say you have 100$ at the beginning, you lose 4% and you end up with 96$ then you lose another 3,3% but from that 96$ so you end up with 92,832$

The end result is losing 7,168$ from 100$ therefore -7,168%, maybe I do something wrong here but that seems right to me
