He just can't see the world in a different way. For him the world is going OK and he is successful and able to play the current game well. He knows the rules etc. But he doesn't see a different world.

He sees the world improving in general (and for a big part he is right according to some metrics -ie child poverty and hunger) but then totally wrong in other areas like wealth distribution.
