Fuck that Segwit was a fucking mistake.

Taproot was a fucking mistake.

We need to increase the block size.

There is no constant on internet speeds or storage that say we can’t handle 4mb blocks at least.

We do we keep imposing this crappy limit?

We could do Segwit 2x since segwit isn’t going away n e ways.

To which part & why?

There’s no reason for changing the base chain and making storage cost higher for node runners. Put bells and whistles on L2. Or try your luck with a hard fork

Node costs are on par with what they cost 10 years ago.

That’s not really an option.

We are literally at the same point we were at during the 1st blocksize war.

It wasn’t enuff.

And it’s pretty evident L2 options are not the solutions we thought they were going to be.

Decentralization is negatively correlated to block size. So what amount of decentralization are you willing to give up on L1 because of your issues with a few years of L2 development? Wait 5 years and see how you feel then about L2

L2 does not fix L1 issues & that’s apparent at this point.

It's not just storage costs. You price out node runners on commodity hardware because they wont have the bandwidth to propogate blocks or compute to validate them in a timely manner. It pushes more and more responsibility and power to centralized players.

Expanding the blocksize just encourages more degens to shit up the blockchain with their grabassery. Then we will have a precedent and lock ourselves into a forever debate about not IF we should increase the blocksize again but why havent we done it yet.

They are going to degen shit on chain n e ways they do not care!

We knew this was coming & it was only a matter of time before it happened.

What’s your incentive for small blocks & high fees on chain?

You act like these degens aren’t gonna be poor in like 2 months. This is high time preference thinking

You act like these degens haven’t spent years losing money on every other chain

It keeps the network decentralized; that being the singlemost consequential factor in preserving Bitcoin as freedom technology.

We already won the block size wars. We will win again when the next bunch think making blocks bigger will be a winning formula.

Part of me sincerely believes that some of these inscription scams are just well-heeled big blockers tossing money at projects to raise tensions and have another go at blocksize wars.

BSV apparently looooves BTC inscriptions

Ordinals and inscriptions are more of a social attack vector than anything. They make people think we need to shoot our selves in the foot and make blocks bigger to house them. How about we just let those people spamming the network HFSP and eventually watch them own nothing and be happy bc they spent all their money on JPEG inscribed sats

What’s changed then vs now?

Blocksize wars to today?

What was won?

Segwit & taproot lead to the "issues" with inscriptions.

You won us this shit?

What happens when block reward goes to zero over the next 100 years. Do the miners just decide to run perpetually and make zero money back? What is your long term strategy here if you believe fees are the boogie man?

Fees will support the network.

That’s why they are there.

100 years from now bitcoin should have destroyed the markets we currently live with.

What do the fees look like on big block chains today? 1 sat/vb isn’t paying the bills

Mining isn’t supposed to pay the bills.

The electric bills * for the mining. Aka there needs to be an incentive to mine or there is not a strong security model. Hashrate is low on big block chains for a reason. Demand for smaller block is clear because it results in higher fees that pay miners more.

As a miner you’re fucking lucky to break even.

Be happy if you make a few bucks.

The hash rate is high because of fomo.

Miners like small blocks & complex transactions as they make more in fees this way.

Could it be the miners themselves colluding making inscriptions/ordinals as a way of driving up fees?

You’re a small blocker you wanted Segwit/taproot what are your plans for fixing this?

what you are basically suggesting is "ohhh nooo, there is to much damned. lets change the blockchain so that its less valuable and reduce the demand... so i can save a couple sats and time"

Yup precisely.. “Block space is so filled we’ve failed! People actually see a reason to pay a high fee here L1 clearly has issues! Let’s shoot ourselves in the foot, keep making blocks larger so we will overall network participation and demand, problem solved!

Lower overall network*

Da fuck toy talking about?

I don’t care about paying high fees.

Idgaf my transactions on chain are always in the first block.
