Awhile ago I complained that I couldn't find certain books available from my local library using the Libby app. I might have mentioned the word censorship. I started tagging them to notify me if there's ever a change in availability.

Well one of them actually became available recently, and there's a big line of people waiting to get it:

If you use Libby be sure to tag books that aren't available and maybe they'll get it if enough people do.

Unfortunately some books don't even show up in a search though.

Ask at your local library who is in charge of acquisitions and you can send them a book wishlist.

Just remember that it’s a government institution funded with tax dollars. Don’t expect too much. Can’t educate the masses too well. 😜

You’d be surprised at what you can borrow from the library and through interlibrary loans.

Not even a bit surprised..

In my state there have been moves by the legislature to constrain and criminalize librarians all under the guise that it’s for the sake of the children.

All bullshit legislation is for safety and security of some kind or another for some “unsafe and insecure” minority that effects everyone and always for a reason other than the “safety and security” 😂

Use the submit form on your local library website to request they purchase the book. Most of the time they’ll buy it for the collection.

Some libraries used to allow you to request a book via the overdrive app - I presume there is a way to do this in the Libby app as well. It’s only worked a handful of times for me, but it does work!

I was trying to find a way to do it through the app, but there doesn't seem to be a way. I wanted to request Bitcoin is Vienna as it doesn't show up in a search. Might see if I can find a way to request some stuff through the library website.
