We can't really verify elections, can we?
Discussion
We could
Now why would they do that? It would make things fair
We can. It's not hard. It just takes a dedication to very simple systems that can be verified, not trusted.
I think so, but convincing someone who has not researched or participated in the voting process not so easy.
Why not? But if we did, the history of leaders would be vastly different
Not really, I think that's the idea behind them. The political caste wouldn't want us to suspect that they're not actually "elected representatives"
We don't have the technology for that
we don't need elections, so it doesn't matter
The Government always verifies the elections right? 🤣
truevote.org is the closest thing I see where we can verify elections but I think that project has lost transaction.
Election don't really matter, if the high level of corruption is NOT dealt with harshly.
USA has the best politicians money can buy.
Does it matter if you don’t vote?
you get your 1 vote coin, and you send it to your candidate’s address.
we could if we wanted..
Sybil attack?
FOSS the protocol.
can validate all issued tokens go person who filed taxes, or some other validation process. if we wanted,
we could find out if anything is foul
I thought this said “electrons” and I thought, “That’s a great point.” Lo
What do you mean by "verify"? Recounts happen all the time, there are both paper and digital ballots....
It's never going to be 100% but that's rarely necessary.
You would need a (hopefully decentralized) public database and a unique id (genetic, fingerprint or any other unique biomarker) for every voter.
The solution may be worse than the actual problem.
In a few years politicians will push for centralized vote systems to gain more control.
Years ago we were talking about how blockchain technology could facilitate real democracy.
Now if you even bring that up you get attacked and accused of being a shitcoiner for suggesting that other blockchains should exist
