I have only ever ridden a train once. It was the Long Island Railroad. From Riverhead to NYC and back.

I love trains. Its been a bit since my last ride but ive gone as far as st loius missouri from oregon. I used to do regualr trips down to cali to.

Oh wow. When I was younger I wanted to do a train ride across the country. I guess I still could, but now is rather drive it myself.

Yeah I guess now a days cars are the way to go. But I kinda detest the car culture in America. Feels kinda weird being born here, and having grown up in the country, to end up disliking cars so much 😅

I wish the world had trains like Bulgaria. It's a cultural thing, clearly, even the neighbours are fucking it up and they aren't even in the EU (serbia). Serbia used to be cool like Bulgaria. Bulgarians are clearly superior because they refuse to change things that work.

The US in general? Or it's more populated parts?

It's tough to implement here.

I would probably have to say in general. I understand that getting to every nook and cranny would be damn near impossible but we could do a better job of maintaining connection between major points.

Primarily due to competitive air travel, it's a tough sell.

Logistically, the necessary rail is in place, but since the post-ww2 era, air and the autonomy of the automobile have resigned culturally.

The culture is where the lasting change would need to be.

Yeah true facts. Refer to my comments to Derek about my personal detest of US car culture. I understand it's definitely a cultural thing.

i might not be a massive fan of cars but i understand that with the sheer amount of space that the US has they make more sense than trains or other forms of mass trasit.

Especially anywhere outside of 75 miles of all three coasts.
