i have been drinking rain water for the last couple of weeks and yesterday again with a bottle of spring water

ugh... it's like comparing water out of the tap to spring water, as spring water is to rain water

i haven't got around to harvesting the fall from the last few days yet but once i empty this new 6L bottle it's getting filled with filtered rain water

i filter it using a plug made of a scroll of kitchen towel paper, jammed into a funnel stem - unscented un-printed - just to remove all the bits that fall into it... there was a lot of dust along with the heavy rain and wind in the last few days, so much so that my air purifier's PM2.5 has been reading almost 2x its normal level whenever i've had open windows or doors for a few hours - sahara dust...

that dust is probably the most annoying thing about the weather on this island... doesn't happen often but i think already this year on three occasions for a few days, this hot, dry, dusty air blowing in from the east and making the air hazy

on the bright side, it did put a stop to a quite long cold snap that was building up but i preferred the cold to the dust lol

hm i might try adding some carbon to the filtering process this time though, just for a bit extra to deal with what blew in from the desert

I heard somewhere that even rainwater is not good to drink nowadays if not filtered because of the poisonous forever chemicals that have spread everywhere globally. I don't have any details but I would look into it if drinking rainwater, I'm sure they can be filtered out.
