Traffic lights are kinetically inefficient.
They will stop a whole row of cars moving to allow one resting car to move.
There must be a better way to program them.

Depending of the time I just run red lights.
But for a day to day use I prefer roundabouts. It keeps the flow going.
I never used to run redlights. Even when I knew it was absolutely clear and nobody was around.
That has changed 😂
When all cars are self driving, they will talk to each other and there will be no need for traffic lights or even slowing at an intersection. When AI is in charge of the timing, cars will zoom through intersections with inches of separation and no collisions. It'll be quite exhilaration, at first.
