Didn‘t Core release V30 WITH the filter option? After having it ‚deprecated‘ previously? or was i misled?

They never removed the setting. They marked it for future removal. Then someone made a pull request saying "You could probably recover a modicom of political capital with node runners, if you just didn't deprecate this feature." So they "unmarked" it for deprecation. It was just immaterial signaling, since v30 will default the data carrier limit to an absurd, arbitrary 100k.
