If it can be done 100% remotely it can be done by someone in India for 10% of what a westerner would cost.

All jobs can be done remotely, now.

I mean, all jobs can be done by computers, now.

There's actually no reason why anyone should need to work, ever again, which is probably why everyone has gotten bored of the idea.

We're all just waiting for the computers to catch up, so that we can live in permanent vacation.

I mean, I am applying for jobs to program robots. 😂 Add some ML to the robot and I'm unemployed again.

if nobody has income there's nobody to pay for the product

the singularity is a retarded elitist fantasy, it will never work that way

sure, maybe some people will be put out of work, once again, by some of this tech but there will be new things to do with all that free labor

the real problem is the money squeezes the labor market deliberately and until we can save again it's not just machines replacing humans it's overall general impoverishment as no progress happens because nobody can save and thus fund speculative, developmental work

deals will be done, even if flow slows but with the biggest demographic with the most $ (US stats) that r aging out i c process/progress/opportunity! step in to a deal lfg cheap labor flooding in is not for naught- ?

well, there is some degree of natural movement towards more advanced levels of capital buildup

but the other side of it is if this leads to social disintegration a lot of that capital will be burned and suddenly people will be going tho opposite direction again

go with the flow

That doesn't seem to be the case. The robots are taking over the thinking tasks and humans can only compete on mechanical tasks. And for how long?

I ask this seriously because I'm surrounded by teenagers regularly asking me these questions.

Why become a health worker, when the hospitals are going bankrupt?

Why work at a pool, when they are closing the pools?

Why become a teacher, when nobody is having kids?

Why become a programmer when code will be generated?

Why work in a restaurant, when everything will be a self-serve kiosk?

Why become a truck driver when the trucks drive themselves?

Why become an anything, when everyone is growing broke and old? Who will you sell anything to? Who will you work for?

The trucks won't be, it's a narrow use case, if you've done it, you know the limited AI capabilities can't handle a lot of it.

That will be the case, until it's not.

the Luddites thought there would be no solution for all those out of work weavers too, yet here we are still, the sky didn't fall, they found some other way to produce labor that led to stuff people paid for

this way of thinking is outlandishly pessimistic, morbid and illogical, and TPTB want you wasting your mind thinking about un-resolvable problems so you don't work on things that destroy their privileged position

The Luddites were facing machines, not intelligent robots and computers that don't need an operator.

New variable just dropped.

humans are the customers

the line of logic ends in a contradiction

machines can't adapt to the complexity and randomness of the real world, we are not replaceable

there is nothing more to say about it, stop worrying about it, just pray and give thanks and get to work

I don't really want to work. I want to whine. I have PMS and a headache and the companies are starting to respond and ask for more info, but I don't know if I actually want a job, so I'm like, ugh.

sounds like you need to go back to that paradise outside your door for a bit

No way. This is the blankie-n-tea stage. Lasts 14 hours, 32 minutes, and 14 seconds. Give or take 3927 seconds.

well, the clock hasn't stated yet, git garrn

😂

They said that about drone deliveries... they didn't take nature into account... lol.

Turns out some big birds hate drones.

the real problem we face is the loss of individual sovereignty from an ever growing totalitarian surveillance state

everything else is just a distraction trying to keep you from noticing that they are stealing everything from you

At the end of the day I don't care, I'll cheer them doing it & laugh my ass off when an EMP eventually strikes. lmao.

yeah that's why it's my plan to stack enough to get myself a little few acres high in the mountains, build out a little radiation proofed bunker, and build purely mechanical backups for everything... back to the steam age for me

it won't be forever but the next 50 years there is for sure gonna be some massive failures of electricity and radio based technology systems and manual, mechanical and heat powered is the way:trademark:

We're steering our some toward mechanics and electronics because we figure someone will need someone to fix their robot. Until they come up with robot-fixing-robots. 😂

*son

these are not signs of technological advancement they are signs of a population whose mind has been filled with misanthropic bullshit, from the environmentalism, the Bomb, the endless consumerist hedonism, to now the replace humans with machines story

all of them come from the same source, the lord of this world, the lord of flies, the enjoyoor of death, decay, decadance, and putrescence

i cringe so hard at this story about AI because i understand the large majority of the tech well enough to know it's far from having any capacity to replace human creativity, in fact i don't think you can have creativity without risk of death, and machines don't have that and will never have that and until i see a machine mamma giving birth to machine babies i'm never gonna believe it will ever happen

and even if it did it wouldn't change anything, because we have a ~200k years lead on them for adaptation

there is gonna be a reset, alright, it's gonna be Guillotines 2.0 once enough of them snap out of the hypnotic trance they have been induced into

It's causing widespread lethargy because people don't see the point of working for more than subsistance. There is no larger goal.

Like, nobody thinks about saving up to buy a house. They can't afford a house, no matter how hard they work and save, and the robots will cause them to get fired, and then they wasted their time, and they don't have a woman to put in the house, anyway.

They're being hit with widespread mechanisation and robotization, dissolving marriage market, sky-high asset prices, and a declining and aging customer base that prefers to buy foreign goods, simultaneously. Even Bitcoin won't save them because the older people will own almost all of the Bitcoin and they are reluctant to spend it.

Career Choice Armageddon.

Not true for everything.

Well, obviously, otherwise everything would already be moved, as the entire development team could be remote.
