I’m a long time AirPod user. But they continue to suck over time, shitty battery life, trouble connecting to non-Apple Bluetooth, overpriced etc.

What are your recs for similar Bluetooth earbuds? Main use are phone calls, video calls at work, and music (across various devices…and yes I know, don’t shill me on harms of Bluetooth earbuds and how I should go wired…I understand 😂)

You apparently don’t understand 😉

Anker had a pair with 6 microphones, they seem to be the best for talking. All the others I've tried, suck for talking. I'll see if I can find the model number

Just replaced 5 yrs old AirPods Pro, charged them hard, never disappointed…. Replaced with 2nd Gen.

I always try to use wired headphones whenever possible. But if there is no other option and for a short time, I use Sony LinkBuds S and they are really good. Sound cancelling also works quite well. Using them since 3 years.

Looks like an upgraded model. I've had the ones above for almost a year.

AirPods are the worst when they start flaking out overpriced and picky with non-Apple stuff. Try the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4. Crystal-clear calls (seriously, your boss will hear every word), awesome music detail, and they don’t throw tantrums across devices. Worth the switch!

Sony WF-1000XM5 Noise Cancelling earbuds.

Great battery life, comfortable, works well with iOS and they have excellent noise cancelation. The crème de la crème of Sonys ear bud offerings.

no coiners say this about Bitcoin

I need to go wired too

Jabra Elite 10.

Those buds rule! 😎

Not ear buds, but I quite like Shokz bone conduction headphones, which are great when you're outdoors and still like to be able to hear your surroundings. Only down side is some quality is not quite as good as traditional headphones, but being able to hear traffic for example is a huge safety plus.

I'll probably get ripped apart for this comment, but I'm not convinced that "wired is better" as a blanket statement is broadly true - the quality of the headphone likely plays a much larger role.

Back in the early aughts when MP3s became prevalent, some grad school colleagues and I were testing sound quality for different songs across different genres from lossless down to 56 kbps. We had to get a fair bit below 128 kbps to noticeably hear any loss for most songs. So I'm willing to bet that most people, in a double-blinded experiment, cannot identify wireless/wired better than 50% of the time (therefore they're guessing) for good quality headphones. If anyone knows of the results of a double-blinded experiment that proves me wrong I'll happily shut up. Otherwise one of these days I'll have to run the experiment myself.

If you’re connecting to Apple devices, I have to say AirPods are the best option. The seamless pairing is hard to beat, especially if you’re moving between MacBook and iPhone for calls/music.
