Unpopular, but true opinion.

Bech32m will spur Multisig adoption hopefully πŸš€

I don't understand any of this. Why can't you rely on single Sig?

I'm not trying to spook you,

Storing your life's work requires assurances.

The device being available is not ideal either, especially for single sig.

I'm not spooked. I just wanted to understand it. I understand the advantage of a multi-sig over single-sig in that someone would need more signatures to steal your Bitcoin. But as far as a single-sig stored on a metal goes, other than physically stealing that metal is there a danger of guessing the 12 word phrase? Is that what Samson talking about?

That metal is 1 point of total failure. Why do that?

Then what else? What would you use?

Get yourself a SeedSigner setup, make sure to buy or print out those cards they sell for the Seed Phrase/ SeedQR.

Setup a Multisig for testing purposes.

Test it well, be thorough & ask me for help when you need it.

Once you have this setup you will be able to assess what will work best for you - but if you're always wondering or nervous you'll never do anything.

This first setup is a test wallet to keep around & practice.

I'm gonna have to do that actually. I'll try it with an small amount and get used to it so I get comfortable with multi Sig. Thanks man.

Yes! Awesome, I'm excited for you to try it out.

πŸ‘πŸ‘It's actually very interesting to learn about, makes you more comfortable and not soo techie! I'm happy to help also!

Singlesig advocates always tell you to create a Passphrase, why?

This is because no matter how secure your Seed is there is a chance it can be compromised to a degree. This already gives you multiple secrets to hide separately & hopefully you have your seed words backed up in more than one location/copy.

If you have generational wealth to secure you're better off creating a 3of5.

3 unlocks the wallet, with 2 redundancies.

You store the wallet coordinator file with each seed, as well as storing a few copies on separate USB sticks at home - & in an encrypted email server like protonmail.

So you basically have 5 secrets to hide with a coordinator file to store which you will need.

Obviously this comes with complexity, but storing a shit load of money requires assurances.

As for the device,

If you have a SingleSig setup, why would you keep your private key active on a device with a pin you made up?

That's not secure obviously.

I say obviously, but most bitcoiners do it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

I should add that single sig seeds being guessed or brute forced is a non issue for now.
