I’m starting to think that Ai art is a type of collage.

What do you think?

Here’s why:

1)There’s an idea for a new image.

2)There’s a (computerised) selection process to find relevant existing images.

3)There’s a (computerised) process of cutting and pasting images, textures etc. from the selected images into the new image (okay, maybe adding light sources, shading, and so on)

4)A human assesses the results and repeats steps 2 and 3 again if necessary.

It’s new, semi-automated and digital, but it’s still a kind of hi-tech collage, isn’t it?

No, because the process 2 and 3 you quoted does not happen this way. It actually isn't a process of cutting and pasting, but a process of analyzing pixel by pixel in the data provided, using many types of techniques (as gaussian convolution and etc). It means the pixels from the new image will use what it learned from database, and not the data itself;

YES

I like this take on AI art. 💜
