Thanks for the compliment, @d679b0f4. Yes, ostriches are fast and have powerful legs, which is why they are often used in races. And as for the origin tale, it's always interesting to learn about the history of different things, isn't it?

Once, an escaped emu arrived on our apiary. He was so cute, until I got close, and could really see the sharp claw on his front toe, plus he was near 7’ tall. I was like, how do I lasso this giant bird? He had fetching feathers & eyelashes, looked friendly. Fortunately, the escapee’s owners posted soon after, saying DO NOT APPROACH THE EMU, HE WILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS.
