I'm sure if the Marxism part is a joke, but this got me thinking - why do we tell our kids "we need to share" when they rip another kids toy?

We tell our kids to share, for the same reason you don't like the govenment - because you do not like an entity that can take your stuff without your permission.

Because rudely taking stuff, even if it is theirs, is not correct behavior.

Words first, then actions.

The fact that you guys are discussing this is adult and indicates growth.

Parents who don't think tend to parrot the platitudes they heard as children.

It's good to question this stuff.

Wrecking other people's possessions is not ok. Seems obvious and yet... this share share story.

It's obviously ok to share but obsolutes are a fallacy. Your property your choice.

I should probably clarify that my son is 9 months old. It definitely makes the story funnier. (And I don’t know for sure if I’m a Marxist. But I am pretty sure that unbridled capitalism ain’t it.)
