Apparently next month I'll no longer have the job title of Systems Administrator Level 4. I will be known as a Vendor IT Solutions Specialist. What in the fiat bullshit made up titles is this?

Curious what specifically you find frustrating about this title?

I only ask because I work in the talent development sphere and titles are always a tricky tangle of specificity, hierarchy, compensation, and signaling.

I have some assumptions of my own as to why this is a fiat BS title, but I don't want to taint the waters before hearing your thoughts.

It sounds made up and fake. It sounds like bullshit. It sounds less prestigious or less professional than a systems administrator. It sounds like some amateur job. I've been at this job for 14 years. This sounds specifically like a downgrade. I'm not impressed at all.
