Spent several weeks running GrapheneOS with the battery optimization setting enabled. This setting is supposed to cap charging at 80% to increase battery longevity.

For whatever reason, enabling this setting really killed my battery life because many times after plugging in to charge overnight, it wouldn't even charge to 80% and I risked having the phone run out of juice before the end of the day.

What even is the point of this? Just change the battery when it’s not holding charge anymore.

I get it for a laptop or tablet you don’t need it to run all day on battery so that makes sense but for a phone this is plain stupid.

Says the smart guy who is not aware that iPhones, iPads and MacBooks also have this feature enabled by default 😂.

I do use it on the iPad and MacBook since I never need to use them on battery for more than a few hours at a time.

I only started to use Apple products about 3 years ago actually. While I enjoy the great hardware, I hate the closed ecosystem. So, more open alternatives are always in my mind. But thanks for the constructive discussion! You seem like a great guy 😂. I hope you’ll have a better day tomorrow.
