People on the latest GrapheneOS, can you test the Around Me feature or try attaching your location to an Amethyst post?

Graphene has new Geolocation Service changes in the latest version. You might need to manually activate Location services on settings to use location on Amethyst. Let me know if it works or not for you.

I'll try after I update today

I'm in stock Android 15, 8 pro, and it has never worked properly. It never send to get the location, I just see this forever.

A request is made to get location.

Yeah, I don't think stock has any location services available to reply. I think Graphene had to add their own component on top of it.

So this doesn't work on regular Android only graphene? How do other apps get location?

I am not really sure. Maybe it's because I call the COARSE location to be more privacy preserving instead of the GPS one. 🤔

I thought the GPS data would be converted to coarse data if I call it, but maybe that doesn't happen on AOSP.

I'm not using AOSP. I'm running full Google Android, like the phone comes from the factory.

Which might have the same behavior as AOSP, which is also a valid interpretation of the "stock Android" you originally mentioned

hum... That is weird. It should work on Google's version. That's where I do most of my testing... I will try some other settings to see if the app is missing a permission or something.

I had to enable Location Service>Network Location (GOS proxy). Now I see a spinning circle under Around Me, but nothing else. I've never seen Around Me working, so not sure what to expect if no one is found in my radius.

I'm just getting `Loading location`.

Also the Around Me feeds are just empty, but maybe there's just no one around me.

This is on GrapheneOS on a Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Oh, I got a result this time. Pretty old though.

Location is now a spinning circle.

Might be a relay thing. I really can't keep up with all the changes on that front.

Hum... No it's definitely a permission or a systems thing. Likely a bug of some sort. 🫤
