It can be queried but it's quite meaningless. In my client you will only see who follows you back or who of your follows of follows follows you. You could instantly spawn 100 followers for every new account on nostr for basically free.

Oh, agree that it’s useless as a cardinality , but I do find it useful in interactions to know that someone is following me
