In recent years, a popular saying in Australia is "Winners never quit and quitters never win!" This phrase emphasizes the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving success. It implies that those who give up easily and shy away from challenges will never be able to accomplish great things.

Looking back to the early 1980s, I had the idea of earning some extra money by writing teaching experiences for various English newspapers and tutoring magazines in China during my free time. There was a great policy at that time: any envelope marked with the word "manuscript" would be exempt from postage fees. However, for nearly a year, I received rejection letters almost every day, filling up two large boxes.

After such a significant setback, many people might have given up and stopped writing. However, I am an obstinate person, determined to prove that my words could turn into printed text. Instead of giving up, I continued to work hard, burning the midnight oil, contemplating catchy titles, altering perspectives, cherishing my words, scrutinizing word choices, and revising sentences. I was relentless in my pursuit. Finally, my first short article, titled "Six Methods for Memorizing Words," was published in the "Learn English" newspaper in Linfen, Shanxi. I received a payment of 1.08 yuan. The moment I received the remittance, I was ecstatic! With 1.5 cents, I could buy seven packs of "Giant Wheel" brand cigarettes!

Strangely enough, after that moment, my articles started to be published in English newspapers and magazines all over the country, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shanxi, Shandong, Henan, Jiangxi, Hangzhou, Jilin Tonghua, Inner Mongolia Hohhot, and more. Even the rejected manuscripts from before, when I opened them, made revisions, and sent them back to the editorial departments, were all published! It was a mysterious turn of events! At that time, there were no computers or printers; everything was handwritten, which made it even more challenging.

To this day, if you search on Baidu or Google, you can still find many entries related to my work. In total, during the 1980s and 1990s, I published 19 books, as well as over 500 articles, short writings, and test questions in reputable publishing houses, newspapers, and magazines. If I had stopped writing after receiving those rejection letters, I would not have achieved what I have today!

"Winners never
