Holly crap! I can get a good meal in a proper restaurant for that money.
As a recovering fat-a-holic I'd say it's no thinking involved, just all about comfort and chasing dopamine for as little effort as possible
Fiat economy incentivizes non-think and comfort above everything.

almost lost my vision, have reversed a lot of it with milk/carnivore diet, once you are in pain and can't see and constant ringing in your ears the pain of not fixing the problem is far far worse than the discomfort of having to think
I very much relate to this. Don't think i got that far, but seeing the pattern i switched to primarily Keto/carnivivore, one meal a day starting with bulletproof-ish coffee to help the fast.
yeah, a lot of people who have been chugging energy drinks for a decade or more are likely to suffer this, especially if they subsist on a diet of seed oil fried potato chips, the two things together seem to be hella toxic, but i will add further, that artificial sweeteners accelerate it, not the opposite that you'd expect
Not only that, but even more addictive! I knew (knew as in, i don't see them anymore in my day) a middle school teacher known for bringing (possibly two bottles of) 2 liter diet pepsi to class everyday, and walked around with it, finished by the end of the day 🫥💀
being a guitar player and a fast/heavy walker, i noticed 'sensations' on my fingers and toes/feet. Not sure if it was actually a signal, but it was enough to motivate me into changing my diet, and I've been feeling better and slimmed down alot 💪

So many delicious and healthy meals could be made for less than the cost of a whopper meal but we are just too lazy. What a shame

I saw the same prices in Panama airport. Just a few years ago, i always eat in airports, fast food and restaurants had regular prices, now everything is overpriced. The same in train or metro station in Europe, they double the prices on soda or snack compare to the shop in the corner outside the station
