Amethyst is barely working for me lately. It uses way too much resources. I'm searching for another nostr client, so if you have any suggestions.

No sure how many options there are for android.
There's Openvibe, not tried it yet, but it used to be called Plebstr and it was pretty good then. (Rebrand & Allows crossposting now)
Have you tried performance mode? Are all your relays working?
Version 0.86.5 works like a charm. I never felt a need to upgrade, so I did not.
I vowed to myself to pay developers for every version I install. So unless the new version sounds convincing it is worth, I am saving the costs and not installing it.
I recommend to everyone to do the same with all apps and never pay any subscriptions, regardless of the policies of their creators.

Yeah, while traveling with a prepaid esim for data I killed 3GB of data by scrolling nostr with Amethyst in about 30min. I set to download pictures and gif on demand and don't auto play over sim data but then the experience is super limited. I guess it's not just Amethyst but all nostr client, a kind of middle man compression service (self hosted) could help, any other ideas?

Notes get stuck in drafts all the time
I reset the cache everyday
Once a month i delete all data and reinstall
My phone tells me to close #amethyst because it keeps crashing
