People using Amethyst over Tor, do you perceive any slowdown when loading things?

Tor is technically a lot slower, but I can't see any difference when browsing on Amethyst.

If no one notices, maybe we should enable this by default.

lol youre 211 days early with the jokes

Yes, it's definitely slower.

Fun fact: I've been using Amethyst with Tor for a while so I wouldn't burn through my data when occasionally opening Amethyst on the go.

How about enabling Tor for all onion addresses by default?

Nice idea. I guess the app can always try the local proxy even if it is not active.

I like this idea. Kinda how I use Tailscale with my umbrel snort relay instance. It's only used when I connect to anything on that network. For tor I guess Amethyst would redirect to the orbot proxy when it sees an onion address.

BTW, you can set to only download pictures in unmetered connections, saves a lot of bandwidth on the go.

Very good tip, thanks

It was very hit or miss for me. Sometimes I didn't notice the difference, sometimes it was intolerable. I turned it off a while ago, but maybe I'll turn it on again and report back

I would not.

I'm using tor with amber, and since then, I don't get ntfy notifications with the F-Droid version.

If this is fixable, cool, but that's extra work and I would rather have notifications than tor since I run a VPN 24/7.

It's definitely slower, but it's only really noticeable for images and videos. Text notes still load plenty quick.

I've been using Tor for a week or so. It is mostly just as fast. Large jpg, gif & video sometimes take a while to load, that is noticable. I get timeouts occasionally uploading to nostr.build too. The file uploads successfully, but the spinner in Amethyst just keeps going.

It'll probably be most apparent with streaming video, loading images and etc. Otherwise delays wouldn't be that perceived, as there wouldn't usually be a comparison.

I am using Amethyst over tor and do experience some slowdown. Scrolling is smothe but, I get stutters, especially when I encounter post with images or videos. Also it may be a good idea to increase the local cash size when using tor to save traffic. Another neat feature would be to have some user configurable size threshold over which posts/media is only loaded on click.

Definitely slower to load. Sometimes I have patience for it, other times I just want the info fast and I turn Tor off

Definitely slow. I abandoned my Tor private relay for Citrine so I could just use clearnet. I had trouble with zaps, relays, everything.

Yes! Videos often take a while to load and seem to have playback issues while loading and "auto-rotate" is on.

Super Based.

Para mensagens e textos Tor consegue ser bem imperceptível.

Aqui eu comecei a usar por padrão em alguns aplicativos e não percebo muita diferença.

In fact slow down a lot, would be great to do this with invisible pro that is faster.
