What a bullshit… most of the civilized countries have ID, and in UK they don’t have it (sorry but council tax bill is not ID).
And in 2025 paper one is just not safe, so digital one is much better choice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s more about requiring ID verification for every service, face scanning and other biometric data becoming the norm and all your information being centralized in a single place and what that means in terms of your privacy and security.
And with all the CBDC rollout plans it also extends to money.
It’s not necessarily about it being on paper, it’s about centralizing all your data for convenience and it becoming a honeypot of information and a way to censor your agency.
