I wrote a subway ad when I moved to New York from the UK about the price of a cucumber. So, HOW bad is NZ?!

Eggs are over $1 usd per egg.

Or look at these cherries!

I regularly spend $300 to $500 nzd ($180 to $300 usd) for a weeks groceries for two people.

The cherries look delicious but is there not more local produce?

There is tons of local produce. NZ exports enough food to feed 40 million people and the local population is only 5 million.

How is the local produce priced?

Also as a lady I feel for the chickens so $1 still feels cheap for their work. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Next time I buy an overpriced cucumber in NYC, I’ll think of NZ. 😅
