With the new DAC8 directive coming into effect on January 1, 2026, all exchanges with European customers will be required to report all their transactions to local tax authorities.

Remember that there are P2P exchanges without KYC, such as Bisq and Robosats. In my case, I have been using Robosats for years and have had zero problems.

If you don't do anything to defend yourself, don't complain later; you're just a coward.

Yep, but that's nothing new, at least in Germany. Exchanges have been sending data on request to the authorities for years!

As far as I know, only those carried out from January 1, 2026 onwards.

DAC8 is to my knowledge something that is going to be effective starting 2026. But from 2025 there was this Travel Rule, whereby information was also shared

I honestly don’t have a good understanding of all the details of all laws that are being passed, but the bottom line remains: Bisq and Robosats are more important than ever

For example, Binance had offices in Europe, so it was obliged to comply, while Bitfinex did not have offices in Europe, so it was not obliged to comply and did not do so.

Now, in January 2026, Bitfinex must comply or it will not be able to offer services to Europeans.
