What is the 2010 regulation you’re thinking about?
Something to do with carbon credits for "non-serviceable" transmissions changed around then because all the dip sticks were removed & all recommendations for fluid changes stopped. When you don't clean & change the fluid that shit breaks at 100k

Got to be correlated with the advent of those dog shit CVTs in Nissan Rogues and others.
Those do suck, but it's not just those, it's lots of regular automatics from what I've seen.
