Yeah I’m inclined to agree with you on that bc it makes me feel less weird mostly. But I am curious; what provides your certainty?
The evidence of spiritual phenomena would imply that we retain memories and a sense of self upon death. Which implies the immortal soul of sentient beings at least. But if you are wicked, could you not be downgraded and forced to live as an inferior being?
But in the sea of energy of all living beings: flora and fauna, will they forever remain insentient or will they eventually earn it?

Time doesn't matter in those things. We are,.have been and will be at the same time..
I cannot yet tap into any past live memories to try and verify anything about reincarnation myself. However there are traditions that talk about the process of getting to the stage of remembering past lives as more than just glimpses under hypnosis. In some of those traditions I’ve made progress and can verify other aspects of their systems. None of the stuff that has proved in part legitimate to me has suggested that beings ever reincarnate into other species.
In multiple traditions they talk about forgetting past lives as a blessing. Most cannot handle the weight of their past lives in addition to the present one.
As far as the lower beings and sentience, yes there is a process where by they can grow and develop but it’s a very long process. We will get to be a part of the process and cats/dogs are supposed to be the next group to gain individual consciousness.

My understanding is that it’s broken into grades like school. Humans are part of the “self aware” grade.
Pet dogs, when born, are not self-aware, however through interaction with humans, they often achieve self awareness early as puppies during training. We call this “imprinting” but it is essentially what happened to Adam and Eve in the garden.
Self awareness is associated with the activation of the solarplexus chakra. Whenever dormant chakras are activated, there is a component of the spirit body shaped like a serpent that moves as part of the chakra activation process. This serpentine component of the spirit body is magnetic in nature and when it moves, it moves in coincidence with the spine.
Magnetic fields induce current flows in wires and in like fashion, when this serpentine component of the spirit body moves upwards, it induces electrical signals in the spine which creates an intense and sometimes pleasurable sensation like pins and needles.
When the pet dies, it would then reincarnate into the self-aware grade as a self-aware species.
The next step up for us is angelhood, lowercase g godhood, interdimensional alienhood, etc. There are various human terms that encapsulate our spiritual upperclassmen.
It’s like Rumi said:
“The angel is free because of his knowledge, the beast because of his ignorance. Between the two remains the son of man to struggle.”
I have no argument for any of that. The idea of our spiritual evolution into angelhood and godhood I completely agree.
The oak tree awaits in the acorn, the robin awaits in its egg, and God awaits in the unfoldment of man.
The “imprinting” and pretty much everything else is definitely a new perspective and information for me to process 🤯 but very very interesting to ponder on
