It does require some degree of 'setting up'. Once you've set up your relays Gossip needs to be restarted, which will need to happen a few times during initial use. It sorta gets used to you after a while. You'll still need other tools to use nostr fully - Either a web client or phone app for reposts, replying to DMs, zaps etc, but it's reallty good for picking up your feed and getting an overview.
